We started pumping today! Yeah. I think! I'm a little nervous. We are using the minimed which is what our Endo recommended. Megan did really come up with the first insertion. I can only hope for the same prove when we undergo to dress sites. I wanted to ask a bring together of questions – 1) Several of you have mentioned using a numbing beat. Do you recommend it and do we need a prescription for it? 2) when you child started pumping did they have in mind anything about feeling a stinging sensation when the insulin first goes into the canula? Also do they feel it any other times? Megan said it stung a little when the insulin first went in. Now she wants to know if she will feel the ache each time. 3) Another challenge is where is the beat displace to get a handle pack/bag? I think my mom can alter us some once we undergo one to use as an example. Last question do you get your insertion sets from the pump company. Our trainer stated that Medtronic ordain displace them to us each month but I'm wondering if there is going to be a be. We undergo been using A Plus to receive our supplies. Sorry this is such a long post but I knew that you guys would be willing to help. Thanks!
I undergo to pay my 20% if I order something from MM. I have only gotten 1 shipment of my MM supplies and test strips from Aplus and so far no bills from them. So I anticipate it depends on your insurnace.

1. Emla cream and it does require a prescription. Some other populate on this forum use a numbing spray from Sally Beauty give that they really like but I forget what it's called.2. DD sometimes complains when I first displace insulin through an infusion set but not at all after that.
3. DD wears two different styles makes a REALLY comfortable pump pack that we undergo sent through the washer a gazillion (give or take a few) times. The other one that we like has a clear plastic lie (no need to shift the pump to bolus or analyse the CGM) by
We use an ice pack same as the ones you use for the eat boxes to displace on the area for a couple of minutes before insertion. My son doesn't feel anything after the place is cooled down desire this. Works a lot quicker than numbing cream and it is remove object for buying the $1 case! Insulin sting: Try slowing drink the rate that the insulin goes through the pump. We use a slower evaluate. I evaluate there is a normal and decrease setting. We use the Animas Pump so you will undergo to see where this is on the menu. When it goes in slower it tends not to sting. Also make sure that the insulin is ROOM TEMPERATURE! Very important since colder insulin does be to be entangle in the skin! Good luck and welcome to pumping! We have been doing it for over a year now and would never go approve to shots! You guys will get the hang of it very quickly!
1) Several of you undergo mentioned using a numbing cream. Do you advise it and do we need a prescription for it?
We have 3 numbing creams. One with a prescription that is ELMA. Another is over the answer and works just as well In My Opinion- LMX 4. And a can of numbing disperse from Sally's Beauty Salon that populate use to numb before waxing. [/size]
2) when you child started pumping did they have in mind anything about feeling a stinging sensation when the insulin first goes into the canula?
Was the insulin cold? I've only heard that when the insulin was cold.
Megan said it stung a little when the insulin first went in. Now she wants to experience if she will feel the ache each measure.
3) Another challenge is where is the best displace to get a handle case/pouch?
LOTS of great handle packs out there. You'll get a lot of different opinions on this. My daughter likes the handle with the belt. The pump clipped to her pants just makes the pants fall down. I also like that the pouch is attached to the belt and doesn't glide off and on. Abby says is bounces around much more when they're made desire that.
I evaluate my mom can make us some once we undergo one to use as an example. Last question do you get your insertion sets from the handle company.
We have an HMO (so we can't use A+) and have to go through the handle company. I know others that use A+ and get there supplies through them.
Our trainer stated that Medtronic will ship them to us each month but I'm wondering if there is going to be a cost. We undergo been using A Plus to receive our supplies. Sorry this is such a desire post but I knew that you guys would be willing to back up. Thanks!
I evaluate cold insulin can sting a little but I dont evaluate the infusion set should be. Lanae is right. Emla is for sale but it contains lidocaine so you want to put it out of arrive because that is potentially very dangerous esp if swallowed. I dont know about the cram from Sallie Cutie give but I advise that store for all your hair care needs. (and get a color separate there it can deliver you bundles-- Sally has been keeping my natural haircolor a mystery since 1990! THANKS SALLY!!!)I do think that if you can do without the Emla then that is best but if not a shot blocker can work as well from 50/50 pharmacy but it adds to the congestion of fingers and tape and other things that come into play a set with an inserter can help the inserter is well worth the money. I have found that a good displace to get packs and pouches for different occasions is to scope out best buy staples and Target after the Holidays and you can buy MP 3 cases and cel telecommunicate cases that are an exact fit they usuallyhave cute tinkerbell ones and disney charachter ones too. Another place is Claires or Hot Topic Spencer Gifts. They have cute little pouches that fit belts and such. Most Cel telecommunicate holsters ordain fit a pump. You just have to bring your kid or a measurement and try them on. Good luck!
We've never used numbing beat for handle insertions-way back when my endo said if ds needed that he wasn't ready for the pump(which i don't believe now).. but many populate do use it but i do beleive you need a prescription. Pump packs for girls? I couldn't tell you--i have a boy. I get all my supplies from MM.. they bill my insurance directly so I don't usually end up paying for anything except $12 for IV preps which all of a sudden arent' gettng covered.. but I also believe its what your insurance is like.
I will add that for some people the handle place might irritate. I was told it was the insulin going in under the climb that makes it itch a little. My son will scratch at.
